Why CLP Labels Aren’t as Scary as They Look
Share
If you’ve ever picked up a candle, wax melt, or room spray and spotted a little diamond symbol on the label, you might’ve thought, “Hang on… what’s that about?”
We’ve seen those puzzled looks at markets too — and we completely understand! So, let’s clear it up: CLP labels might look serious, but they’re actually a good thing.
What is a CLP label?
CLP stands for Classification, Labelling and Packaging, and it’s a legal requirement for any home fragrance product that contains fragrance oils. In simple terms, it’s there to keep you informed — not to worry you.
Every fragrance oil (even the lovely, safe ones we use) contains naturally occurring allergens. The CLP label shows you what’s inside, how to handle it safely, and what to do if you accidentally spill or misuse it.
It’s all about transparency and safety, not danger.
Why the symbols look “scary”
Those little hazard diamonds are designed to be universal. They’re bold and easy to recognise across the world, even if you don’t speak the language on the label. But when you see one on a beautifully scented candle or melt, it can look a bit out of place — we get it!
Think of them like the warning label on your shampoo or cleaning products. They don’t mean the product is unsafe, they’re simply there to make sure you know how to use it properly.
Safe, regulated, and responsible
Every Norshire product is fully compliant with UK and EU CLP regulations. That means each label is checked, verified, and created to meet exact safety standards. It’s one of the ways we make sure everything we sell is safe for your home and family.
We’re proud to follow those rules, because it shows that our products are made properly and responsibly, no shortcuts, no guesswork, just honest craftsmanship.
So next time you see a CLP label…
Don’t worry! It’s there to protect you, not to scare you.
It’s a little symbol of trust, proof that you’re buying a well-made, fully compliant product from a business that cares about doing things right.
