Behind the Scenes: How We Make Our Handmade Candles & Melts

At Norshire Company, we believe that scent is more than just fragrance — it’s memory, mood, and emotion, all wrapped into one beautifully crafted product.

That’s why every single candle and wax melt we make is poured, labelled, and packaged by hand with love and care, right here in our South Wales workspace. Whether you’re lighting a candle for a quiet moment at the end of a long day or popping a wax melt in your burner on a Sunday morning, here’s a little peek behind the scenes at how your favourite Norshire creations come to life.

Step One: Choosing the Perfect Fragrance

It all starts with the fragrance. We test and trial every oil carefully to make sure it’s the right fit for our collection — complex, beautiful, and well-balanced. Some times fragrances work and sometimes they don't, everything takes time (and many sniff tests!) to get just right.

Every scent is chosen not just for how it smells, but for the feeling it evokes whether it’s the warming comfort of Cigar Lounge, the uplifting zing of Mandarin & Sandalwood, or the beachy calm of Rock Salt & Driftwood.

Step Two: Melting, Measuring & Mixing

We use a premium plant-based wax that’s clean-burning and beautifully creamy. Once melted to just the right temperature, it’s time to blend in the fragrance oil.

This isn’t just about following a formula. It’s about experience and precision — mixing each batch at the perfect ratio, temperature, and timing to ensure a great scent throw every time.

Step Three: Pouring by Hand

Every single candle and clamshell is poured by hand in small batches, giving us full control over the quality. This is where the magic happens — the scent begins to fill the room as the wax settles into its jars or moulds.

It’s not always glamorous think messy aprons and lots of stirring but it’s one of our favourite parts of the process.

Step Four: Curing with Patience

After pouring, our candles and melts are left to cure. This step is so important — it allows the wax and fragrance to fully bond, ensuring a strong, even burn and lasting scent once you use it at home.

We don’t rush this part. Good things take time.

The Finishing Touches

Once cured, we clean, label, and package each item by hand — often with a podcast playing or a cup of tea in hand. Our labels are designed to be simple, elegant, and sustainable just like our products.

Before it reaches your doorstep, each order gets a final check, a thank-you note, and (sometimes!) a surprise sample to try something new.
